THE QUIET CENTER
From our hymn book The Faith We Sing we have enjoyed the hymn Come and Find the Quiet Center. We have used it often to prepare for our time of prayer, for hearing the gospel, and for receiving the Eucharist.
“Come and find the quiet center in the crowded life we lead, find the room for hope to enter, find the frame where we are freed: Clear the chaos and the clutter, clear our eyes that we can see all the things that really matter, be at peace, and simply be.”
Shirley Erena Murray
May we find in these days of Pentecost some time for the quiet center of God’s loving presence that renews us and frees us.
Let us take a moment now to settle into the silence. Hear and feel your quiet breathing. Hear and feel the quiet of this place and this community of people. In this quiet hour may our spirits be renewed. In this time may our minds be open to new truth, and our hearts be receptive to love, as we give thanks for this life we are blessed to share. Emmy Lou Belcher-adapt.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is peace; where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is love. There is comfort in life’s darkest hour; there is light and life, there is help and power in the Spirit, in the Spirit of the Lord.
